Crack sealant is widely used in the crack repair of various asphalt pavements such as municipal roads, expressways, and residential areas. When using crack sealant to fill joints, it should be operated in accordance with the construction requirements to ensure the construction quality, so as to extend the use of roads.
1. Asphalt crack filling should be carried out in autumn and winter when the air is dry and cold, and it is not suitable for construction in rainy and wet weather. When encountering humid weather, use a hot air lance to dry both sides of the crack, so that the sealant and the crack wall can be easily bonded.
2. A crack router should be used to slot or expand the cracks. Generally, the slot width should be controlled between 8 and 15 mm, and the depth should be controlled between 15 and 20 mm.
3. The type of sealant used should be selected according to the product description and material characteristics provided by the manufacturer to meet the differences in temperature in different regions. If modified asphalt joint filling materials are required, the heating construction temperature should be controlled between 193°C and 204°C.
4. Before using the crack sealing machine to fill the joints, use a blower or compressed air to clean up the sundries in and around the cracks. When filling joints, the heated sealant should be evenly filled into the cracks, and the surface of the material should be basically flush with the road surface. If the joint filling material seeps down along the cracks or is not filled, it should be refilled 1-2 times. After the joint filling is completed, it is advisable to sprinkle a layer of talc powder along the cracks to prevent the joint filling material from being taken away by driving.
5. A professional crack sealing machine should be used for joint filling to ensure construction quality and construction safety.
